Things that make me happy!

A while ago I received an e-mail in Etsy from a Canadian photographer:

"Hi - came across your shop. LOVE your illustrations.
I especially love the mermaid mother and child
(it reminds me of myself and my daughter, Lilah)."

I looked at her photo and couldn't stop smiling! My God,
they both look like my illustration
characters a LOT!
Don't you think so?

She has a very lovely online portfolio and this is her sweet daughter.

She asked me to do an illustration for her future website/Blog.
I did this illustration with pen on paper and colored it digitally
in Photoshop.

My love for Typography

I ♥ typography and calligraphy, although I used to hate them in
school when I was a kid!
We used to practice Nastaligh (Persian style calligraphy)
and I have to say it was very difficult for me! But recently I was playing
with letters and illustrations and came up with this design.
It's not done yet, but I'll show the complete painting soon!
It's hard to see the birdies now! They are almost hidden :)

Crabapple

Thanks a lot dear friends for your wonderful comments for the
previous post! I actually cut one of the fruits as you said and it looks
exactly like an apple! So I guess these trees are crabapple trees.
.
I did a few painting on stones that I had found by the beach.
The colored parts are acrylic colors and I used a Pigma Micron 005 pen
to draw the black fine lines! It's much easier that a brush, especially
when the surface of the stones is not very smooth.

House Sparrow

I really didn't know male and female sparrows have different colors
until I took pictures of them while there were singing on our
balcony.
.
I painted them with watercolors in my new tiny Moleskine
watercolor notebook.
When I took a close look at their photos I realized that they are
very different! You can read more about them here in Wikipedia.

These are the photos that I took from them. They both have something
in their beaks and still were singing! :)) I guess their nest is very close
and they're taking food to their chicks.

If you're looking for a very good watercolor notebook you'll love this one.
I bought this one from Ebay but they sell them in most craft stores.
You can also find them in Moleskine website.

New banner

I made a new banner for JooJooLand shop.
I love its soft colors, although I miss the cute old banner.
.
I wanted to participate in this week's "Illustration Friday" but
I was very busy and couldn't finish the painting.
The topic is "Paisley" and since this shape has a Persian origin
I wanted to do something special for it. But they say
"Better late than never"...
so see you soon with paisley illustration :)

Illustration Friday - Ripple

A little doodle that I did on a paper doilie and
colored it in PhotoShop.
I did that birdie on the left page in doctor's office today while I was
waiting to go in. It took an hour for them to send me in!
Thank God that I had a pen and a notebook :D
