Golden tree . Sketchbook

Golden tree. My new sketchbook pages that I did last week.
I've used: Micron 005 pen in brown, watercolors, colored pencils and Gold gouache.

It took me a few days to finish the whole thing which was relaxing like zen meditation.
A little bit at a time.

Hope your last days of 2014 are going great :o)

Kioko . Kokeshi doll no. 8

Kioko (happy child) is the 8th doll in my kokeshi series. She and her tiny bird are handmade by me with lots of love and attention to detail from polymer clay, wire, glue, Japanese ribbon, beads and acrylic paints. She is a OOAK doll. Find her in my clay shop.

Miniature shadow box from:

This is how I choose the colors for every kokeshi.
I do a general sketch before making the actual doll.
These dolls need a lot of patience to create, but the results are always satisfying.
Hope they make you happy!

This is how I keep my clay clean and dust-free while working in stages.

Nori and Yori . Kokeshi doll no. 7

Nori and Yori . Kokeshi doll no. 7

When Yori was born, the Moon was much brighter than normal and the sky full of shiny stars.
Nori carries him on her back singing the sweetest lullabies.
"You are my child of moonlight, the sea dances for you and I’ll always love you."

Nori is a One Of A Kind doll. I've used polymer clay, acrylic colors and paper to make her
and her baby boy. The shadow box background paper is a museum quality print which will
not fade with time (for at least for 100 years).
It is decorated with a small paper cut moon and swarovski crystals.

You can find them in my clay shop

* Name meanings:
Yori (Trust)
Nori (Belief)

The miniature shadow box is beautifully handmade by my parents just for me!

Just wanted to share a few photos that I took during the months of autumn.
It's a beautiful season in Canada.

How about your city?

Meet our cats

Meet our new cats, Felfeli and Boma!
They are a pair of brother and sister and are one and a half years old!
We adopted them 3 weeks ago. The sister (Felfeli) was very friendly and comfortable from day one,
but Boma is a very shy guy.
He was hiding under the bed, in the tub, under the sofa, name it!
Now he is a bit better, he comes out and plays with his sister and we can pet him a little bit.

 Boma in his hideout :D

Felfeli, she is the sweetest!

Maemi . The fifth kokeshi

Hello friends! I was very quiet here on the web, but I was doing a lot of fun projects behind the scenes! I have finished making four more kokeshi dolls. This little orange baby is one of them. I just need to take photos of the rest. Sometimes I wish I had a photographer! I am not in the mood for taking photos these day...Am I too lazy?!!

Now let me introduce  this little happy girl properly:

Her name is Maemi (Smile of truth) and obviously she loves oranges. You can find her in my Etsy shop but don't ever get tempted to eat her tiny oranges:

Miniature shadow box from:

Those tiny leaves are hand painted. I use super small scissors to cut them out.
You can take a sneak peek at my other kokeshi dolls in the background.
I am so excited to show them all to you!

DIY How to color your own map tacks

I love map tacks. How about you?
Unfortunately I couldn't find that many lovely colors in the market.
Most of the ones I found were primary colors. Then one night I dreamt of
a whole lot of map tacks in adorable pastel colors. Haha! That sounds silly but
when I woke up I was still thinking about that dream...and then I decided
to color my own map tacks using nail polish!

Aren't they adorable?
All you need is two flat nose pliers, some white map tacks and some nail polish colors
(I have a big collection of nail polish. Some are from 15 years ago!!!)

Hope you enjoy and have fun trying this little DIY project!
