Sketchbook

More pages of my sketchbook.
This sketch book encourages me to connect with my senses
and be more creative.
I also enjoy doing some collage, sticking pieces of recycled paper,
stamps, tapes,...it's a lot of fun!

Tropical bird

Hi friends! Finally I'm back after being so quiet.
This was the painting that I had in mind for the topic "Paisley".
I've done this illustration with watercolors and pen on paper.

This is the work in progress.
I wish you a lovely week ♥

New banner

I made a new banner for JooJooLand shop.
I love its soft colors, although I miss the cute old banner.
.
I wanted to participate in this week's "Illustration Friday" but
I was very busy and couldn't finish the painting.
The topic is "Paisley" and since this shape has a Persian origin
I wanted to do something special for it. But they say
"Better late than never"...
so see you soon with paisley illustration :)

Little sparrow

This little birdie is a friend of mine that sings outside my window.
I'm so grateful that these guys come and visit us, even though we are
living in a high floor apartment.
.
I hope you have a lovely Monday!

Illustration Friday - Ripple

A little doodle that I did on a paper doilie and
colored it in PhotoShop.
I did that birdie on the left page in doctor's office today while I was
waiting to go in. It took an hour for them to send me in!
Thank God that I had a pen and a notebook :D

Nesting shells

My sister and I found these shells in Kish Island (An island in Persian Gulf)
when I was 7 years old. Only a few native people were living in there and it
was so deserted. We had gone there for my dad's business trip.
Now the island has become a resort and full of tourists, but I haven't visited
it since then.

IF - Early

Rooster the early bird wakes up early when everyone else is sleeping.
He gets really bored and guess what! ... He wakes everyone up!
I did this painting with watercolor and pen on paper.
The paper that I use is Fabriano (Hot pressed and extra white)
It's a perfect paper if you want to make Giclée prints, because it's
very smooth and scanner-friendly :)
.
You can find the print of this painting in my shop.

Love is all we need

I finally finished painting this!
It wasn't easy to scan it, because it's much bigger than my
scanner's screen. So I scanned it in 3 steps and then merged
all the three pieces together in Photoshop.

It has a lot of details that can't be seen in the photos, but here you
can see more details.

I've printed the painting on 13x19" and 8.5x11" papers and both
are available in my shop now.

I hope you're having a great weekend! Here Monday is a public
holiday (Victoria Day). So we are enjoying a long weekend :)
See you soon dear friends!

Blue evening

I took a few photos by Lake Ontario this Sunday.
The sun was almost setting and everywhere was blue.
I like to look at far away places and dream away...
It was very quite in there and all you could hear was
the sound of calm water.

Illustration Friday - Equipment

A pen illustration I did for Illustration Friday, a vintage coffee grinder.
All vintage equipments have a special charm, don't you think so?

Book of trees

I came across this book in Toronto Public Library a few months ago and
since then I borrowed it many times.
It's a visual guide to more that 500 trees from around the world.
If you're interested in botanical painting it's going to be a valuable
book for you. It's inspiring me a lot.
You can find it here in Amazon.com

Vacation

Hi dear friends, I just wanted to stop by and say that I'll be
on vacation for the next few days and I'll be back next Tuesday.

I took the photo of this lioness last year in Toronto zoo!
She seemed to be so happy! ;)

My next watercolor paintings

These are the sketches for my next watercolor paintings.
I usually write some notes for the colors
next to the sketch.
Sometimes I write in Farsi and sometimes in English.
Here it says: "Grayish brown, pink, yellow - orange feet"
But I may change my mind! ;)
This weekend is the long weekend for Easter.
Happy Easter and have a great weekend! :)

Happy Persian New Year!

Today is the first day of spring and Persian New Year.
This is my 7 Sîn! You may probably remember my last year's.
You can read about this Iranian tradition here in Wikipedia.

I bought these flowers from the supermarket today.
I hadn't seen such flowers before. They look so exotic.

Do you know their name? I promised you to take some good photos of Fire Festival in Toronto.
But it was very dark and I didn't have a tripod so these are the best
photos that I could take...
Blurry...but shows the fireworks. It was very crowded and I couldn't go
and take photos of the dancers and the performance.
More fireworks!
I wish you a very lovely spring and Persian New Year!

Better late than never!
I had the idea of this illustration in mind from a long time ago ...
I did it with colored pencils and PhotoShop.
