Sketchbook

From my sketchbook.
{ Micro pen . Watercolor . Colored pencils . Gouache . stickers . Washi tape . Stamp }

I have used some fun transparent stickers in this one, the balloons on top and
the leaves of the tree on the bottom of the right page. You can find them in
many Etsy shops.
I love using metallic gouache! I took the photo in an angel that they shine :)
Some pressed leaves and flowers that I've collected over the years and new
Canadian stamps.

I'm sure that many of you already know about this wonderful website
called "Pinterest". It's a virtual pinboard and lets you organize and share
all the beautiful things you find on the web. This is my favorite website
these days...a great way to feed your creativity.

Enjoy and have a restful weekend :)

Story of a seed

A little watercolor illustration I did for the story of an adventurous seed called "Sea Heart",
a seed that travels in rivers and oceans to find a perfect home.
A few years ago when I was in Mexico for vacation, I found a heart shaped object on the beach and I had no idea what it was, maybe a wired sea creature or a shell?
Just recently my friend Sarah Melling told me about a beautiful illustrated book called
"A seed in sleepy" and when I got the book from our local library I found a picture of the
heart shaped object in it! WOW! It was a seed! A big and cute one!
Here are some more pages of the same book. I really enjoyed reading about seeds
and looking at the gorgeous illustrations.
Thank you Sarah!

Hope you have a wonderful Monday friends!

Birds from my window

Zenaida Dove, these birds have a very beautiful voice.
They sing a nice and calming song in the morning.
We had the same birds back in Iran, but they sing a totally different song!
Isn't it interesting? We call them "Ghomri" in Persian.
The cutest thing ever! Baby sparrow! Little fluffy thing!
He's learning to fly these days, he's full of excitement to discover the world!
I took this photo 20 minutes ago (7 am)
I have no idea what this huge bird is?
Do you know its name?
It was flying very close so I could take a photo of it.
First I though I'm seeing a plane from far :))

Red morning

I was stunned by color of the sun this morning. It was bright red!
The moment I woke up I jumped and took a few photos of the beautiful light!
No Photoshop editing! It was really like this! WOW!
It only lasted a few minutes and after that clouds came down and covered
the whole city and everything was in deep fog...

Illustration Friday - Duet

Probably you remember the sketch of this illustration that I did back in 2010.
It's been a while that I wanted to color it with watercolors and finally I did!

I made two prints from this painting, one with old paper background and one
with white background. Which one is your favorite?

Just a few hours to the beginning of the Persian New Year and Spring equinox.

Sunset

I read about Japan's 8.9 earthquake news this morning in Google home page.
What an angry planet we have *sigh* ... I hope everyone stays safe from the Tsunami :(
.
Our window faces east Toronto and I never see a sunset from here, but reflection of
lights from glass buildings far away is as beautiful as the sunset itself.
